Student Leadership Group (SLG)

Student Leadership Group

The Student Leadership Group (SLG) at UC High School Kaleen is much more than a student representative body—it is an important and active part of the leadership of our school. Students are provided with genuine opportunities to contribute their perspectives, represent their peers and influence decisions that shape learning, culture and the student experience at UCHSK. Through the SLG, student voice becomes part of how we lead and improve our school, ensuring that decisions are informed not only by staff and data, but by the experiences and ideas of the young people at the centre of our work.

SLG students take an active role in organising and delivering events, celebrations and initiatives that build connection, engagement and school pride. Importantly, they also take significant responsibility for planning and running school assemblies, giving students a visible leadership presence within our community. Assemblies become an opportunity for students to celebrate achievement, communicate important messages, recognise the contributions of others and strengthen our shared culture and values of Kindness, Achievement, Respect and Endeavour.

Through these authentic leadership experiences, students develop confidence, communication, organisation, collaboration and decision-making skills. Most importantly, the SLG demonstrates to our community that student leadership at UCHSK is leadership with genuine responsibility and influence. Our students are not simply consulted about their school, they are trusted to help lead it, shape its culture and contribute meaningfully to what UCHSK becomes.
