Welfare
All those who work at Kaleen High School have a responsibility for Student Welfare. The Welfare Team, however, consists of the Executive Teacher Student Services, the School Counsellor, the Youth Support Worker, & the Year Advisors. Their roles are as follows:
Executive Teacher Student Services - is responsible for the wellbeing of students in the school through implementing duty of care policies & procedures, developing policies & practices within our Student Welfare Policy, coordinating Year Advisors, the Learning Resource Centre & the Learning Support Unit.
School Counsellor - deals with students who have need of counselling support. The students may refer themselves, or a staff member may request the intervention of the school counsellor. He also tests students for special learning needs. Our current counselor is at Kaleen High School two half days per week (Tuesday and Thursday) but this is subject to change
Youth Support Worker - Our youth worker is an advocate for students within the school. His work contributes to the overall effectiveness of the school & its programs. Our youth worker organises programs for identified groups of students, & offers individual support. Students may be referred to our youth worker, or may seek him out individually or in groups.
Year Advisors - The Year Advisors are concerned with the progress, attendance, behaviour & wellbeing of students & where necessary contact parents/ caregivers. Students should always feel free to approach their Year Advisor.
