Technology
Technology studies are focused on a problem solving approach, which encourages students to develop their thinking skills, confidence, visual communication skills , ability to manipulate materials, and skills in the use of a range of technologies.
All studies are linked through a problem-solving model, which reflects designing, making and appraising. Technology offers different learning opportunities and particularly focuses on visual and spatial intelligence. It also develops many of the Competencies such as Using Mathematical Ideas and Techniques; and Planning and Organising Activities
Year 7 & 8
Introductory Technology in Years 7 & 8 students undertake a common, integrated, introductory course conducted over three of the four semesters. Students learn to design, make and appraise by studying the Materials: Metal, Plastic, Wood, Food and Fibre.
Year 9 &/or 10 Elective Choice
The semester-long units students can select from are: Photography (including Digital) Design Workshop Graphic Communication Food & Nutrition Textiles
NB: Different levels in each unit may occur to suit each students experience & specialisation.
